Same thing as before with the watermarks - I don't really want these posted elsewhere without credit, but if you want the originals just send me a note - I don't bite. :)

Cool. Were you the person that had the tripod set up next to the projector? Because if you were, I was sitting behind :)
:iconkoganemouche:
Thanks! Naw, I was moving around a bit :) It was a great show though, wasn't it??

Talking to some of the people was enlightening though - the bands didn't know there would be games; and the gamers didn't know there would be music, and the crowd had very little idea of what ws going on at all - overall a bit of a mess. :(

Very true. I don't know about you, but I got very bored of that Rainbow 6 tournament very quickly. And so did the audience. People only came for Diru, and therefore the bands all had to fight against the prospect of what was to come, and the fact they were just getting in the way of it, which must have been hard.
:iconkoganemouche:
Well... to be honest, I didn't mind it (the only problem I had with it was that they kept playing the same 3 maps, but by the end of the semi-finals, I was getting pretty into it, despite myself XD!) - but if I'd been in the crowd I would have been very angry about it all too - although I don't think that was any excuse for their rudeness.

I ended up chatting to one of the guys who's team was in the tournament final, and he said that he was really frustrated with all the bands/audience; so it seems like was the same on all sides XD! (I also got asked "So who is this 'Darren Gray' guy anyway?", which amused me no end); I heard Die marching about the balcony earlier in the evening, demanding to know what exactly was going on too, so I don't think any of the invited parties really knew what they were in for.

I think overall, the IDEA of the event was a very good one - having a few bands playing, plus games in between, showing things on the screens to keep people entertained... in theory it was a good plan; but Dir en grey were definitely the worst band to have headlining - all Diru's fans are so desperate to see them now they've finally started coming overseas, they will go to any gig, and they will stand in line for hours; but of course they're going to get peeved when they are kept waiting for nearly 5 hours in the pit.

I think if the headliner had been a UK band, for instance, the gig would have gone much smoother - it's just Diru's fans that made it complicated, because at the moment, everybody's so desperate to see them - and I really don't blame them for feeling that way. Everybody must have been so tired after the gig. :(

... oh man, that was long, sorry! D:

Darren Gray, that's a good one. It's true about the fans though, they were desperate to see Dir En Grey. I would be just as annoyed if I didn't like J-Bands and came for the games. The fans were rude though. Booing wasn't right. They wouldn't have booed if they hadn't been desperate for Diru. If I hadn't got a VIP ticket, I would have died in that pit, of boredom and tiredness. I saw Dir En Grey lots of times looking confused, I'm not sure anyone knew what it was even meant to be. A fusion of games and music, where gaming fans got bored of the music and the music fans did the same to the gamers. I think UbiSoft just decieved people, leading them to believe that it was only what interested the fans.

It was worth it to see Diru at the end I think, but the bands and gamers thought it was a waste of time I think.
:iconkoganemouche:
Yeah :( Possibly it would have worked if they'd released more information about it so everybody knew what to expect - all they had really was that weird myspace, right? I kinda feel sorry for everybody - we were alright up on the balcony/bar lounging about for most of the evening, but I think if I'd been in the pit, I'd have probably given up and gone home, tbh. It was too much for too long - I think people would have still gone if they'd known what was planned.

Ahh well, hindsight is 40/40, right? Hopefully they won't try it again, and it won't put Diru off from future UK tours. :)

Same, we were on the middle floor just chatting and eating pringles, and we went down to the floor to see what was going on, and I couldnt have stayed there for 5 hours. I would have left and come back later, if they allowed readmission (I'm not sure) Then again, it wasnt that busy, and unlke Diru tours, is was relativley easy to get close to Kyo.
:iconkoganemouche:
Yeah - I went down to hang out with my friends for a bit, but they were all complaining how their feet and backs hurt >_< But yeah - at least it was possible to get away from the pit to sit on the floor for a bit and still not be too far from the stage. (Although the moshing that broke out in the back can't have been much for for the people who didn't want to get involved in it.)

They don't allow readmission - the lady on the door was positively gleeful about it, it was funny XD She was saying that it amused her no end to say no to smokers wanting to nip out for a fag. "But I'm DYING!" "Yes, yes you are. It's your own fault. Now get back in there and deal with it. XD"

Hah! That sounds like a great job. Maybe it helped people quit? People should have brought those fold-out camping stools and cups of tea to sit through the hours of trailers. By the end, we were reciting what was going to happen.

"No! They aren't going to break the window with a gun, are they? He won't take a hostage, will he?"

I didn't see the moshing at the back, the balcony was in the way. Although I did have lots of fun watching the left projector fade *waves flag of excitement*.
